What is The Club of Friends?

The Club of Friends unites donors who help people in need with regular donations. These donations give people in need a chance for a dignified and safer life. For instance, when the war in Ukraine began, we were able to immediately use the first 20,000 euros to help people fleeing the war.  When a disaster happens, help must arrive as soon as possible. Thanks to the Club of Friends, we can react immediately and send help within a few days.

Part of the fund is intended for long-term assistance where a longer period is required for achieving positive change.

Join the Club of Friends and help change lives with us.

Helping people born into generational poverty is a long-run activity. Give them a helping hand on the way to a better future.

People affected by humanitarian disasters need our immediate help. Give a sense of security in most difficult times.

Education changes lives and breaks the vicious cycle of poverty. Help those who cannot afford the cost of education.

Help people who were born into difficult conditions or suddenly find themselves in need. Give them a reason to smile.

How are regular donations used?

25% of donations are made to the Humanitarian Relief Fund, for emergency and crisis interventions at home and around the world. Thanks to it, we can help immediately.

We divide 50% of donations collected into three parts between our long-term programmes – development projects abroad (20%), work for vulnerable and excluded communities in Slovakia (20%) and educational programmes in Slovakia (10%).

25% is used for logistics, aid organisation and other.

The Friends Club has already helped thousands of people from Ukraine

People who have had to leave their homes because of the war in Ukraine face great insecurity. Thanks to donors from the Friends Club, we immediately allocated 20,000 EUR to help them and were able to help them right from day one.

Help will be needed for years – for those who stayed in Ukraine and for those who fled to Slovakia before the war. Regular donors give us the opportunity to help in the long term, systematically and professionally. Join the Friends Club and help those in need.

Humanitarian disaster in Gaza

Since the Hamas attack in October 2023, the conflict in the Middle East has turned into an open war. Thousands of civilians are dying of starvation in the Gaza Strip. The provision of humanitarian aid is very difficult; trucks can only be sent by vetted organisations and in limited quantities. Donors have sent material aid worth 20,000 EUR to people in need.

Help is still needed, and we are planning further deliveries of hygiene supplies and much needed non-perishable food.

Earthquake in Turkey and Syria

The devastating earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria in February 2023 claimed more than 50 thousand victims and injured thousands more. At People in Peril, thanks to regular Friends Club donors, we were able to respond immediately. We allocated the first 10,000 EUR from our humanitarian fund for rapid relief.

In the first days, fuel was mainly needed for the machines that were searching through the destroyed rubble, and also to provide temporary shelter and basic food and hygiene supplies to people who had lost their homes.

Aid after devastating tornado in Moravia

We have all been hit by the shocking news of the tornado in Moravia which caused huge damage. Destroyed homes, orchards and devastated streets. A huge wave of solidarity has also been raised in Slovakia. Thanks to regular donors from the Friends Club, we were immediately able to allocate the first 20,000 EUR to help the victims of the disaster. Because in disasters we need to help quickly. We added these funds to the relief fund, which was used to buy the most necessary materials for the repairs and the victims received direct financial assistance.

Thank you for helping with us!
