Nepal
In April 2015, Nepal was struck by the most devastating earthquake in 80 years, killing nearly 9,000 people, injuring 22,000 and leaving hundreds of thousands homeless due to the shaking ground. People in Peril reacted quickly and launched the SOS Nepal public collection immediately after the earthquake, raising more than 52 thousand euros. In cooperation with our Czech partner, People in Need, we immediately intervened on the ground and a week after the earthquake, aid was already being distributed to the most affected people. Thanks to the help of the Slovak public, we supported more than 14 thousand households in the repair of their makeshift dwellings and provided materials and technical advice. Another 10 thousand families received household equipment such as mattresses, blankets or solar lamps.
