Pakistan
In Pakistan, in partnership with the local AWRC organization, we distributed tents, food, kitchen supplies, blankets, feminine hygiene items and cookers to families in hard-to-reach mountainous areas in the immediate aftermath of the 2005 earthquake. In early 2006, we opened a community centre to provide services to people in the worst affected Balakot valley.
We also helped in Pakistan in 2010, when the country was hit by devastating floods and landslides. We distributed water filters and water purification tablets, cold blankets, creams for treating skin diseases and felt cloth to protect the privacy of damaged homes to communities in the Khyber Pukhtunkhwa province. We set up a children’s centre to provide a safe space for children to play to limit contact with contaminated mud from the floods.
