Sri Lanka

In January 2005, we started working in Sri Lanka shortly after the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Southeast Asia. A public collection in Slovakia raised a record amount of CZK 17 million, which we used primarily to help fishing families. As a result of our work, the newly built village of Arahena in the Matara province, in the Dikwella area, has provided a home for more than 150 people. We built 35 houses in the village with complete infrastructure and a community centre. After a year and a half, in July 2006, we successfully completed the mission. The total cost of building the village amounted to SKK 13 million.
