Belarus

Our goal in Belarus was to increase public access to quality journalism, information about events in the country and analysis of the political situation. We therefore supported journalists from independent Belarusian media. Although the government made some positive reforms, the political system remained authoritarian and violated human rights.

As part of our activities, we organised a visit of a group of independent Belarusian journalists to Slovakia, where they met with government officials, NGOs, newspaper editors, writers, businessmen, politicians and representatives of secondary and higher education. We also organised study tours for NGO representatives on education, culture and heritage protection and the development of regional initiatives.
