Palestinian Autonomous Territories

Given our experience in organising events aimed at strengthening intercultural dialogue and the Middle East region, in 2009 we launched a project using art as a way to reflect on social, political and cultural issues. Slovakia was visited by three young Palestinian volunteers who took part in the Art Therapy: Protected Territories festival organised by the Theatre of the Passage in Banská Bystrica.

In 2010, within the framework of the project Art for Cultural Dialogue, the coordinators of People in Peril youth projects visited Palestine. They conducted workshops on art therapy for the staff of the partner organization WI’AM and for groups of orphaned children with whom WI’AM works. The two later discussed the socio-political situation in the Middle East with pupils at secondary schools in Slovakia.
