Palestinian Autonomous Territories
In September 2009, based on our experience in organising events aimed at strengthening intercultural dialogue and Middle Eastern issues, we launched a project that used art as a means to reflect on social, political and cultural issues. In November of the same year, three young Palestinian volunteers visited Slovakia to take part in the Art Therapy: Protected Territories festival, organised by the Theatre of the Passage in Banská Bystrica. During the festival, the activists were introduced to various theatre techniques and methods, which they later used in the creation of their own performance.
The project continued in 2010, when Slovak coordinators of youth projects visited Palestine. There they conducted workshops on art therapy for the staff of WIAM – Centre for Peaceful Conflict Resolution, as well as for groups of orphaned children with whom WIAM worked.
